Sally Swanson Reports from the 2012 Paralympic Games in London
SSA’s CEO, Sally Swanson, attended the 2012 Paralympic Games, the largest Paralympics to date, with over 4,000 athletes participating. She was an official reporter on disability compliance, and was particularly impressed with the exploits of the U.S. Paralympic Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team, winners of a silver medal.
The history of the Paralympics goes back to an event started in the 1940s for disabled British veterans of World War Two. Because of its history in supporting Paralympics, there was great enthusiasm, as well as important media coverage, for the London Paralympics.
SSA has provided accessibility assistance for two Paralympic Games: Sochi, Russia, on its successful bid for the 2014 Winter Paralympics and PyeongChang for its successful bid for the 2018 Games.
