The New ADA Changes — Will They Affect You?

He will be covering the Department of Justice’s recent implementation of the “2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design” for newly constructed or altered State and local government facilities, public accommodations, and commercial facilities projects.

  • Evaluating/ surveying public facilities for compliance.
  • Providing access during construction (new requirement).
  • Evaluating programs, activities, and services offered to the public.
  • Facility surveys and reports.
  • New 2010 ADA regulations (summary of new recreation facilities requirements).
  • Access Board’s recent changes to the updated “Proposed Accessibility Guidelines for Pedestrian Facilities in the Public Right-of-Way” document.

  • What design guidelines should be used until the Access Board’s updated document is officially implemented.
