Sandcastle Building Contest: LEAP’S 29th Annual Fund Raising Gathering
SSA staff participated in a day at Ocean Beach in San Francisco, where wonderful and whimsical structures and creatures were being constructed in the sand. SSA was part of the URS Corp. Team, one of 22 teams supporting the arts in Bay Area schools through this fund raising event for LEAP. LEAP places professional teaching artists in classrooms, helping to make up for funding cuts in the arts. One of LEAPs programs brings architectural education into classrooms.
Young students, working in collaboration with architects, contractors, and others from the AEC industry, gathered on the beach to build as well as admire the many artistic creations. At the end of the day, after their hard work, the students were allowed to knock down the sandcastles in a happy and enthusiastic display to end the day.
