In preparation for upgrades on the County’s 1, 020 centerline miles of maintained roadway, SSA was hired to prepare an ADA Comprehensive Access Plan for the County road system. SSA identified and categorized typical conditions, responses, and infrastructure modifications to support ADA aspects.  SSA evaluated the County’s development ordinances and typical required conditions for project approvals to achieve contributory funding for developments and projects within the County that affect the road network. Part of the final tasks included development of a set of checklists for use by DOT personnel in assessing ADA compliance issues in the field.  SSA conducted training sessions in proper application of the checklists. The final plan addressed typical accessibility issues for road network conditions and explained modifications to enhance accessibility aspects.
