San Francisco Jail Cells

The San Francisco Community Justice Center (CJC) is a neighborhood-based collaborative court of the Superior Court of California. SSA was invited to design two secure holding cells and an interconnecting space for use by the CJC. The existing courthouse is housed in a privately owned, leased, two story building in the Civic Center area. SSA proposed full security upgrades to the cell areas including security wall upgrades, security doors and security electronics. SSA petitioned and obtained a State Fire Marshal “Exemption” of the code to fully sprinkler and alarm the entire building.  The CJC provides an option of creating a point of intervention that allows it to better address offenders with specific needs, who can be held in the building, by linking them to appropriate social and community services.
